Hot Ice


Cool days begin with

Echoes of drums inside a dark

Haunting cry;

Vanishing and swallowed by the wind.

All but mind’s best illusion

Remains clear as the blade.

Fleeting and crisp,

Alert for the slightest hint of

Breath. Held fast,

Quickly and deep,

Less the smallest sound

Be lost forever.
