Raining on Titan

Fare you well old man
father of my mirth.
I wish you well in to the silence
You who once shaped my mind
in circles.
Your words more remembered
then any that were heard.
Absurd at times
but painted bright enough
to raise dead spirits.
You who taught me tragedy
is not without a lighter side.
And laughter
in those darker moments
showed that hope
was always near and by.
You who showed me worlds of wonder
begged to be explored.
Who taught me character
was something to develop.
I offer up these simple words
in short return
for all you gave to me.
An empty snow covered bus stop bench
And an existential leap
a new journey has begun.
Farewell to you my father.
I wish you well away.
Please prepare a place for me
When you reach your destination,
and I shall see you by and bye.
